Soil Reuse – Panel Session
Wednesday, December 6

“Dig It: Global Approaches to Contaminated Soil Reuse”
Environmental attorney Sara Peterson co-presents with Nick Willenbrock of the United Kingdom on approaches to soil reuse in the United Kingdom and the United States. This presentation stems from Minnesota Brownfields’ work with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency on possible statutory changes to provide liability protection for reuse of regulated fill. The United Kingdom’s CL:AIRE model is a good one for states to emulate. Learn what has worked in the United Kingdom, and lessons for Minnesota and other states wrestling with the challenge of how to manage ‘historical fill’ at urban infill sites.
