Site Assessment Funds for Underserved Communities
Funds are available to assess brownfield sites located within or adjacent to environmental justice communities throughout the 7-county metropolitan area. Minnesota Brownfields is proud to partner with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) in this initiative to address environmental disparities and spur redevelopment in underserved neighborhoods.
This work is made possible through a Brownfields Assessment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Through the grant, the MPCA can provide assistance to projects that require assessment of brownfield properties for reuse/redevelopment, including green space uses. Please review the grant application for detailed information about eligibility.
Funding Amount and Contractors
The MPCA will determine the amount of grant funding allocated to an approved project/site based on the type/level of assessment needed. $60,000 is the maximum amount that will be allocated to any given project. The MPCA uses their Level 3 multi-site contractors that have Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) for Targeted Brownfield Assessment work. The 4 consultants currently approved to do work under this EPA grant are AECOM, Braun Intertec Corp., Bay West, LLC, and AMEC Foster Wheeler (Wood PLC). If you have a request for a specific contractor from among these 4, please make a note on your application.
